“Attempting to understand and convey the meaning of a film like Impolex can be equated to the futile effort of trying to explain a work of modern abstract art with definite certainty to another person." - Wearemoviegeeks.com
Months after the end of World War II, a U.S. solider named Tyrone has been sent by the army to locate and retrieve German rockets and rocket science. In the woods, he finds a German V-2 rocket, the most advanced long-range rocket created to date. As he searches for more, a perplexing cast of characters confronts him: A scientist whose name appears on the rocket appears to Tyrone, seemingly set on preventing him from fulfilling his mission. A fellow soldier, now an escaped prisoner, offers guidance about the whereabouts of Tyrone's precious final rocket. But most importantly, Tyrone is helped by what seem to be recurring visions of Katje, the woman he left behind at home. And then, there’s the talking octopus.
An unjustifiable blend of the bare-bones realism of John Ford's WWII documentaries and the glorious stupidity of Abbott and Costello, IMPOLEX sheds light on an obscure corner of military history. In English. 35mm (AP)
